Book Summary & Description
Well paced mystery with characters from the previous book in the series. The friend, Michael Brody, had a brother two years older than him, who was abducted, along with a bus of fellow school kids almost 20 years before. Michaels brother, Daniel, was never found and, together with the other children, is believed to have been killed. About 5 years after his escape, during which he received multiple surgeries which inadequately fixed broken bones in his face and scars on his skin, Chris doesnt want to be the focus of attention. A site was now discovered in the present time, and the bodies of all the school children were found buried with evidence of grisly torture by a sadist. Michael is hoping that his brothers remains would show up to at least give the family closure, but his brothers are the only remains that are not found.
Michael ends up locating Chris sister, Jamie Jacobs, who at this point, lost both of her parents and is the only surviving relative of Chris. There is an attraction between Michael and Jamie as Michael convinces her to help him. While she is still wavering, her house is broken into and she walks in on the perpetrator, who admits that hes the one who killed all those kids on the bus and wants information from her to help him find her brother Chris. She realizes that if he takes her, shell never come back alive, so she manages to fight him off, but that incident convinces the police and Michael that they have to go out and locate the madman who did this and find out why this person is after Chris. A Perfectly written book about a school bus of children that has gone missing.
————– spoiler alert ————– I was so annoyed with Michael and his insensitivity to Chris!I understood he wanted to find out the truth about his brother and the other kids but so many people lost their life because of his careless pursuit of Chris! There is a very evil element in this book, which all the main characters had to endure and deal with over a 20 year period of time. That being said, it was a very well written book, with good, strong characters driving the story line. Two years later, the only survivor, Chris Jacobs, walked out of the wilderness with no memory of what he went through. When he can’t find Chris, Michael appeals to Chris’s sister, Jamie, to help him find Chris. Jamie is hesitant to find Chris until she is attacked by a tattooed man who is also trying to find her brother.
Buried by Kendra Elliot is the 3rd book in the Bone Secrets series. The Bone Secrets series, if you haven’t read any of them, are a series of books that don’t follow the same main characters book to book. So, to that end, Michael Brody was a side character in Hidden, Book 1. 18 years ago, Michael Brody’s brother Daniel went missing along with a school bus full of other children on their way back from a field trip. Two years later, the sole survivor, Chris Jacobs emerges from the woods, malnourished, injured, dirty, and scared. Michael sets out to find out what has happened to his brother, and his only lead is Chris, who has secluded himself completely. “The Tattooed Man” is suddenly hunting them down, as they race against time to find Chris Jacobs, and ultimately find out what happened to Daniel Brody and the other children on the bus.
Kendra Elliot has written her best book to date and shows why this series is called bone secrets. Twenty years ago a school bus with nine children and the driver just vanished. They have found the mass grave of the children and others that were not on the bus but one child is still unaccounted for, that is our hero Michael Brodys brother. Fans of the series will remember Michael from the first book as the intense reporter ex-boyfriend of forensic odontologist Lacey Campbell. This is 3rd in the series . . . this is Michael Brody’s story (the reporter from Hidden, Bk 1). Twenty years ago, Michael’s younger brother went on a school field trip. Two years later . . . . one of the children, Chris, appears out of nowhere, covered with scars, a brain injury, and numerous healed fractures. Twenty years after the disappearance of a school bus, the remains of the children are discovered buried in a field.
Michael contacts the man’s sister, Jamie, but as the two race to find Chris, someone else is searching as well, and will stop at nothing to silence the only witness to the truth. Series note: This book #3 in the Bone Secrets series, but can easily be read as a standalone as there is no ongoing story arc. Michael and Jamie are both appealing characters with a fantastic dynamic. In sum, while some of the plot points require a healthy suspension of disbelief, there is a good balance between the romance and the suspense, and the book is entertaining. The one thats eluded him, though, for twenty long years is learning what happened to his brother Daniel the day his school bus disappeared. When the remains of the other children are discoveredand Daniels arent among thema desperate Michael calls upon the sole survivor of the tragedy, Chris Jacobs, hoping he will finally break his silence.
And while you can still do this (I promise you wont be running around in the dark looking for the light switch) Burieds main character is none other than a ex-lover/reporter/all-around-good-guy Michael from Elliots first novel Hidden. This little surprise added a whole other level of character intimacy that I wasnt expecting when I first decided to read this book. The plot is original, the pace is gripping BUT the background romance between Michael & Jamie is ridiculous! There are so many pages in this book I am sure Kendra Elliot could have spared a few chapters for the characters become a couple. Reporter Micheal is still searching for his missing brother and seeks out Jamie, the sister of the boy who was kidnapped with his brother and escaped. A bit of romance with a hot scene between the 2 main characters of this book.

Simon and Garfunkel
Michael Brody, a journalist, is the older brother of the one missing child whose body was not found. He’s determined to find out what happened to his brother, and for that he needs to talk to Chris Jacobs and somehow make him remember. But Chris is a very reclusive man who’s living completely off the grid, and Michael’s only hope of finding him is through his younger sister, Jamie. Like, Michael comes over to Jamie to discuss the discovery of the kids’ bodies, and Jamie gets hung up on how his eyelashes are so dense and black and what a waste it is for a man to have such great eyelashes and she remembers every tube of mascara she’s ever had to buy and. . . what the hell?Michael constantly sounded like a total arsehole (especially when interacting with Jamie), and though some of his actual actions did cross the line, Daniels was adding things that weren’t really there in the text.
This is book 3 in the Bone Secrets series and I definitely like it better than the first two books. As in the other books in this series, I have liked the cover art and thought it was a very cohesive look for the whole series. There is a reason I don’t read Dan Brown and that is the clich characters: good looking male character who is near darned perfect, totally drop dead gorgeous female character who’s downright gorgeousness stops people in their tracks. The romance between Jamie and Michael seemed a bit off, as if it came on too fast, but there really wasn’t much time devoted to the romantic side of things. Eighteen years ago Michaels brother Daniel went missing along with 7 other students and a bus driver. Chris, one of the kids on the bus made his way out of the woods to a house two years later -almost dead- from dehydrated and emaciated.
But the kid lives off the grid and Michael knows the only person that may be able to find him is his sister, Jamie. Not only have they found childrens bones but now thanks to more searching and the cadaver dog they have found a mass grave with adult remains as well as a place it looks like the kids were kept before they were killed. Michael again reaches out to Jamie, this time by stopping at her school but as before he gets no where. Michael gets a number that Jamie calls after he leaves her house the first time traced and finds a location for Chris. Back at the hotel Michael leaves Jamie in the room to rest while he goes to get dinner. Chris Jacobs has just pulled up Michael takes a few seconds to collect himself because when Chris steps out his truck all he can see is Daniel.
Michael and Chris load Brian up and haul ass towards Salem. Michael tries calling his dad to get some information on one of the woman found in the grave. I love the fact that I have both the e-book and the audio book so I can read at work or while I am cleaning or what have you. Es una de mis favoritas, pero est claro que esta serie no es para m. No he conseguido disfrutar de ninguno de los libros que he ledo (o intentado leer) as queaqu lo dejo. I have not been able to enjoy any of the books I have read (or tried to read for that matter) so . . . Ill leave it here. Her brother Chris Jacobs was kidnapped along with a bus load of his classmates from an exclusive private school. Michael Brody is a reporter who has never given up the hunt for his brother Daniel who was on the same bus as Chris.
The final point of view is that of the man who kidnapped, murdered, and abused the children and who is now determined to find Chris Jacobs and finish the job. Events start moving and bringing all these people together when the bodies of all of the children except Michael’s brother Daniel are found buried at an abandoned farm. He goes looking for Jamie, hoping that she will send him on to Chris, but never expects that he will take one look at her and fall in love. The story is filled with excitement as Michael and Jamie track down Chris and as the Ghostman a. k. a. Author Kendra Elliot’s “Bone Secrets” series gets better and better with each new book. “Buried” is Book Three, and it blends together elements from the first book with all-new twists and turns for a super suspense-thriller that you won’t be able to put down.
Twenty years after the bus and the children were lost, an unexpected discovery on a long-time unused dairy farm uncovers the burial site for the children and the bus driver. Only one child’s remains are missing–those of Michael’s brother, Daniel. Determined to solve the mystery of his brother’s whereabouts, Michael seeks out Chris Jacobs through Chris’s sister, Jamie, an elementary school principal. Reluctant to aide Michael at first, a violent attack from an unknown intruder in her own home convinces her that the only way to protect Chris is to help Michael. The attraction between Michael and Jamie grows deeper as they come closer to uncovering and exposing an insidious evil–an evil just as deadly as it was decades ago. Riveting romantic suspense from talented author Kendra Elliot–be sure to also read Book One: “Hidden”, and Book Two: “Chilled”.
Michael Brody had a brother who disappeared along with Chris Jacobs and numerous other children on a school bus one sunny afternoon 18 years ago. Now a bunker has been found containing the remains of all the children except Chris Jacobs, who is alive, and Daniel Brody, Michael’s brother who remains missing. As an investigative reporter he is used to getting answers and determines that he will not let Chris Jacobs get away with refusing to tell him what happened the day he climbed aboard a bus with a group of cheerful children and returned two years later alone. After 20 years of no answers to who or why someone would kidnap 9 children and a school bus driver, the discover of the children & the drivers remains only leave more questions than answers. I loved BURIED. . . I do believe that this is my favorite of Kendras Bone Secret books today.
